Being in contact with other artists all around the world through social media I decided to present a few of them. Here is the third one to send me his answers to my interview questions:
Please introduce yourself:
My name is Michael Nobbs and I am an artist living near Aberystwyth on the west coast of Wales. Most of the work I make at the moment is drawing based, though I’m also interested in video and sound, anything really that easily chronicles my life.
I produce a regular journal of my life called The Beany, and also recently began to make limited edition booklets, which are also downloadable for free on Flickr.
What is your definition of art?
I’ve never really thought of defining art. I rather like what Marcel Duchamp said though: „My art is that of living. Each second, each breath is a work which is inscribed nowhere“.
Why have you become an artist?
I started making art relatively late in life. When I was about 30 I was diagnosed with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome and gave up work. A little while later I started taking drawing lessons and eventually went back to university to study for an MA in fine art.
What is your favourite artwork of your own and why?
My favourite work is usually the one I’m working on, or just finished. Today it’s my little booklet Start to Draw Your Life. Tomorrow it’ll probably be something else.
How do you work?
Currently I work with a mixture of pen and ink and digital drawing on my Mac. Finished drawings are usually a combination of both mediums.

- Welsh artist, Catrin Webster
They have all had a big influence on me, especially when I first started to make work.
What is your favourite material to work with and why?
Currently I love the freedom and flexibility that working digitally gives me.
Could you live without making art (and why/why not)?
I hope so.

fabulous….what a positive way to begin after being diagnosed with CFS. I saw the Keri Smith influence immediately.
As an illustrator I relate to keeping a visual diary, and I like the way that your work is like the Richard Linklater film Waking Life, very existential 🙂
